Hot, fresh donuts whenever the sign is lit – just like that well-known national franchise, but better! These donuts are so good and incredibly fresh. I only wanted one or two, but I walked away with about half a dozen because they were that tempting. The bacon donut was a true standout – the blend of salty and sweet got me every time. They used whole strips of bacon, not just bacon crumbles like I’ve seen elsewhere. Their crullers and raised donuts are also top-notch. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of their donuts!

I dropped by on a Sunday morning whim to grab a chocolate iced old fashioned. The shop had clear COVID protocols in place, with signs reminding customers to mask up and indicating where to stand. Unfortunately, they had a minimum credit card charge of $2.50, so the guy at the counter suggested I pick out a couple of donut holes at just 20 cents each to meet the requirement. Little did I know, I was about to embark on a taste adventure!

This blueberry donut hole was like a bite of heaven. It tasted like the feeling of a full night’s sleep after payday. It should seriously compete in a Miss America talent competition or run for school board president! That’s how good it was.

But let’s not forget the main event. The glazed donut I ordered was crisp and fresh, with a perfect amount of icing. While it wasn’t as fresh as it could have been due to our late visit, I could tell that when these donuts are at their peak, they could rival the best of them.

After years of hearing recommendations, we finally decided to give Dizzy Dean’s a try. We had just finished a long hike in the morning and were looking for a sweet reward. The decor is refreshingly simple, just like the donuts. We opted for a plain glazed donut and a maple bacon bar. The glazed donut was impeccably fresh, with just the right amount of icing. Granted, we came in the late afternoon, but I could tell that when fresh, these donuts could give any top-tier competitor a run for their money. As for maple bacon bars, I had nearly given up on them. They usually had floppy bacon and overly sweet maple glaze, but this version was a delightful surprise. The bacon was crisp, and the glaze offered a delicious maple flavor without being overly sugary. They offer a wide range of coffee options, which paired perfectly with the donuts. Without a doubt, these are the best donuts I’ve had in Eugene.
